According to our Ramallah sources Haniyya was already elected in Gaza with the blessing of Sinwar who is leading Gaza now. Our sources explained to us that the local Shura in Gaza is mostly manned by his personnel and Haniyya is supposed to shed legitimacy to Sinwar’s decisions that are in the direction of normalizing with Israel.





According to Ramallah sources the Hamas decision means to create the atmosphere for the return of Haniyya to Gaza as the Shura leader that will put Gaza before the “outside” in the movement’s equation. The reconciliation talks and the elections process will create the atmosphere of Gaza taking the lead versus the outside and preferring the interests of Gaza over Muslim Brothers and Islamic Jihad and Iran.





As we speak Sinwar’s policy is not to clash with Iran and Islamic Jihad, but signs of tensions are already apparent, such as tearing Suleimani’s pics from the Gaza walls.
